The First Annual Kitsap Farm Tour is this Sunday, August 13th, 2023 from 10am – 4pm!

The first annual Kitsap Farm Tour is a wonderful opportunity for the public to visit multiple farms across Kitsap County in a one-day self-guided tour. The tour is an initiative of the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition, a group of dedicated farmers working together to promote agritourism in Kitsap County. The free event is supported by WSU Kitsap Extension, State of Washington Tourism and Visit Kitsap Peninsula.

Kitsap Farm Tour 2023 bannerEach farm on the tour will host a variety of events that include farm stands, tours, animal experiences, kids’ games and activities as well as partnerships with other local farms who will be on-site. See below for a full list of farms, activities and partnerships.

The Kitsap Agritourism Coalition (KAC) was formed in early 2022 by a group of farmers who wanted to network, share resources, and assist each other in collective promotion of their agritourism activities. The group works with the Food Systems Program Coordinator, Jess Sappington, from WSU Extension Regional Small Farms program to help administer the groups meetings, needs and vision. There are approximately 25 farms taking part in KAC, with farmers across multiple specialties including u-pick flowers, farm stays, event/wedding venues, cidery, goat yoga, farm tours, farmstands, and more. Farms in our area provide day trip opportunities, one-time class and learning options, therapeutic visits, as well as overnight and extended stays. Many of our farms also provide low cost and no cost options for allowing families to visit and have an on-farm experience otherwise unattainable to them.

Kitsap Farm Tour 2023 posterAs Jess Sappington explained, “Agritourism is an economic driver providing additional sources of revenue for farms, often allowing a family to keep farming. Farm-based activities have widespread impact on economic and community development. Dollars from agritourism activities benefit not only the farmers, but also businesses providing other goods and services throughout the community. It is the hopes of the group that a more formal collaboration amongst farms will draw even more visitors every year to the area, keeping more dollars within the local farming community and businesses, while providing memorable experiences that Kitsap Farms have to offer.”

Although they are not participating this year, Michele Muffoletto, co-owner of The Wanderers’ Nest Farm here on Bainbridge Island shared this with us, “We joined the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition (KAC) in September 2022 and immediately felt welcomed. The beauty of the group is that we all bring something different to the table in how and what we farm, but our common goal is to genuinely connect and support each other while also thinking of ways to share our way of life with the community through Agritourism. Even though the group is fairly young, the momentum and motivation is there to educate and promote the importance of farming in Kitsap. As a coalition, we’ve worked to create an Agritourism website with wonderful partners at Visit Kitsap ( and Eat Local First ( and a lot of work went into planning the 1st Annual Kitsap Farm Tour with partners at WSU Kitsap Extension, State of Washington Tourism, and Visit Kitsap Peninsula.”

Michele also noted, that as a local farmer, being a member of such a supportive community has been an honor and she encourages the public to connect with our local farmers and farms, “…meet the animals, see the land, and learn and understand the process it takes to grow food and other farm products. The Kitsap Farm Tour is a great way to do that!”
