2021 BAINBRIDGE ISLAND SUMMER STUDIO TOUR – August 13th through 15th
The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour is a twice-yearly, self-guided tour of our vibrant artist community as well as regional artists from nearby communities. The 21st annual Summer Studio Tour on Bainbridge Island takes place on August 13th through August 15th from 10am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
Thirty-six artists will be on hand showcasing their work in five local artists’ studios. After a year off, working through a “virtual art show” in 2020, the artists are very excited to be present in their booths this summer. Each artist had to be juried, so the artwork is high quality, original, hand-crafted, and shows the “hand and spirit of the artist.”
Between the five studios, there will be a wide variety of work on display, including oil paintings, fused glass, jewelry, Sgraffito pottery, watercolors, wearables, metal sculpture, India ink, mixed media, garden art, photography and more.
Three of the studios are new to the Tour this year. In addition, there are several new artists. Jane Drucker is a silver jewelry artist, with a penchant for “architectural aesthetic.” Her designs reflect a beautiful simplicity in their work, with form, and contrasting elements. She will be at studio #5, B. Home Art & Design.
Artist Danis Morgan works with oil paints and Japanese pigments, creating her own pigments. She will incorporate crushed shell, Indigo and Sumi-e at times, and uses walnut oil and natural mineral pigments in her layered paintings on Japanese paper and linens. “A deep connection to the natural world continues to inspire and inform my life, which I hope resonates luminously and brilliantly in my art.” Danis is the owner of studio #4, Danis Morgan Studio.
The five studios on the Tour start with: #1, Theresa Killgore’s “Peaceful Spring Designs Studio” at Roost in the Lynwood Center neighborhood; #2, Danna Watson’s “Dancing Spirit Studio” on Fletcher Bay Road; #3, Sylvia Carlton’s oil painting studio on Grow Avenue by Bainbridge High School; #4, Danis Morgan’s Studio on Grow Avenue at Winslow Way; and #5, Betsy Hoyt Stephens’ studio at the end of Madison Avenue above Bainbridge Thai.
The Studio Tour is a free self-guided tour, where patrons can get original hand-crafted art directly from the artist.
