City News Bytes: Wrapping up Madison Avenue “Bundled” Project; Ebike Voucher Program; Wyckoff Superfund Update; Junteenth on Tap

Madison Avenue is Finally a Wrap!

Yes, the last cones have been thrown into Mordor, the detours are over, and your tires can finally breathe a sigh of relief: the so-called “Bundled Madison Avenue Project” is finally complete!

With fresh striping, improved utilities, and upgraded facilities, Madison Avenue is looking (and driving) better than ever. Only a few minor finishing touches like cleanup and some plantings remain.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Help the City of Bainbridge Island celebrate the end of the orange barrel era with a Ribbon Cutting on Tues., June 17 at 4 p.m. Participants will meet at the Sakai Park parking lot, cut the ribbon at the new raised crosswalk, share a few words, and toast to smoother travels with light refreshments.

Ebike Voucher Program to Support Sustainable Transportation

The City is announcing the launch of a new e-bike voucher pilot program! Included in the Sustainable Transportation Plan, this program will provide a limited number of vouchers to eligible residents for the purchase of a new e-bike.

Vouchers are valued at $300, $1,000, and $1,200, and are awarded based on the applicant’s household income. The pilot program is expected to distribute up to 44 e-bike vouchers, with 23 reserved for low- and moderate-income applicants. The City has partnered with Bainbridge Bicycle Co. and Classic Cycle as participating bike shops.

The goal of the program is to reduce vehicle miles traveled and greenhouse gas emissions by offering residents a sustainable transportation option to replace short-distance vehicle trips. Applications open Fri., June 13. Ebikes | Bainbridge Island, WA – Official Website

Wyckoff/Eagle Harbor Superfund Site Construction Closure

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be replacing the existing sheet pile wall that is around the perimeter of the Wyckoff/Eagle Harbor Superfund Site. Construction began in March 2025.

For public safety, portions of the site that were previously accessible to the public will be closed during construction. Barricades are placed to prevent access to construction zones.
