May Art at the Library Features the work of Suzette Rays and her Exhibit “Bringing Hope”

It’s May; time of spring, light, flowers, new growth. Join the Bainbridge Library’s May artist Suzette Ruys, who offers her exhibit “Bringing Hope” with an opening reception during the First Friday Art Walk, May 1, 5-7 p.m. in the library meeting room.
From the artist: “The world today is turbulent with extreme challenges and great opportunities. It is easy to focus on the negative events shaping our day-to-day lives, but on reflection there are always people whose actions inspire hope, love, and compassion.
“This show is a reminder to me that each of us can work to change the world. The people I’ve painted are not perfect, and some of their achievements might seem small relative to the challenges we face. But I find them inspiring because they are (were) working toward a positive goal that is larger than themselves and acting from deeply held beliefs.
“What can we do when we are inspired?”
Bainbridge Arts & Crafts is presenting its annual showcase of Bainbridge Island student art. “We’re thrilled to celebrate the creative spirit of our local student community, and we hope you’ll join us to experience the inspiring work featured in this year’s exhibition.,” says Mariana Gómez, Education & Program Coordinator.“BAC’s student art showcase is more than an opportunity to appreciate the artistic talents of our local teens — it’s also a moment to lift up and support student artists,” Gomez adds. “At the High School Opening Reception, we will hand out award checks for both the BHS Spring Arts Festival Awards and the BAC Best of Student Show (BOSS) Awards.
