Bainbridge Island Museum of Art presents: Bid & Buy for BIMA 2021

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) has moved its largest annual fundraising event to an online platform. This annual auction supports the museum, allowing it to continue its proud history of supporting local artists throughout the Puget Sound, as well as continuing to provide programs and educational experiences for everyone to enjoy.

The event includes both an auction and a marketplace of affordable pieces making it accessible to anyone with a passion for art or desire to support the Museum.

BID – BIMA’s annual fine arts auction has expanded from its limited in-person gala to include nearly 150 pieces of highly collectible Northwest art, craft, and unique experiences. Artworks include a who’s who of regional artists including Victoria Adams, Kurt Solmssen, Chris Maynard, Joe Max Emminger, Kimberly Trowbridge, Peregrine O’Gormley, Wendy Orville, and Preston Singletary. Experiences run the gamut from trips to Palm Desert and Santa Fe, an overnight stay in Puget Sound’s oldest lighthouse, to private mixers or lessons in studios and art spaces around the region. New this year, Bid & Buy for BIMA will also feature fine wine and spirits.

BUY – Running along with the auction is BIMA’s companion event, an affordable, online Collectors Marketplace of art, craft, jewelry, antiques, and collectibles—something for every art lover and every budget! These items aren’t up for bid—once they’re gone, they’re gone, so don’t wait to catch one of these deals which include equally enticing works at affordable prices.

A bit about BIMA – The desire to create a center for our regional culture and artistic talent began in 2009. The concept was more than a museum though. The founders, who came from all over the Kitsap community, wanted a place that connects our cultural diversity and history with contemporary art. The dream became reality, when the Matthew Coates designed building, which is a work of art in itself, opened its doors in June of 2013. The museum houses a Permanent Art Collection which includes works by artists from the Puget Sound region, as well as recognized and emerging artist exhibitions throughout the year. One of their more distinctive galleries, is the Sherry Grover Gallery which features BIMA’s Artist’s Book Collection—this is a relatively underserved medium in the art world, featuring three-dimensional “books” created through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, textiles and storytelling.

In addition, they offer classes, tours, films, workshops, lectures, concerts, educational programs for K-12, including teen programs and internships, senior programs, and events. Click here to learn more.

Due to the Pandemic, the museum expanded many of their programs to further their reach on a local, regional and national level. To learn more about #BIMAfromHome programs, click here. The museum store has also expanded its reach with its new online shopping experience, click here to shop all the amazing art, jewelry, apparel, accessories, books, and much more.

The art museum is open daily 10am-5pm. Free admission. All COVID-19 precautions can be found at https://www.biartmuseum.org/reopening/ BIMA is located in beautiful downtown Bainbridge Island, at 550 Winslow Way E., Bainbridge Island, WA 98110 (on the corner Highway 305 and Winslow Way).

Bid & Buy for BIMA is made possible by generous support from Jeffrey Moose Gallery, Laird Norton Wealth Management, Hearthstone CPA Group, Stoel Rives, Puget Sound Energy, Susan Wiggs, and Clark Construction.
