Bainbridge Island Summer Studio Tour on Tap Next Weekend: August 7-9th at Five Different Locations. Look for the Signs!

Celebrate the beauty and craftsmanship of local, handmade art, at the free and self-guided art show on Bainbridge, next weekend, August 7-9th. The show features 44 different artists, displaying at five different studio locations. “We’re just a 30-minute ferry ride from Seattle,” says Tour Manager Dinah Satterwhite, appealing to off-islanders who may be interested in the tour. “Surrounded by water and picturesque views, Bainbridge Island is known for quaint shops, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, wineries, and an abundance of art and artists.”

The Studio Tour has enjoyed continued success since 1984, and “we hope you’ll come experience it for yourself soon,” Satterwhite says.

Regional artists are juried into the summer and winter art shows (the latter is held in December) and sell their wares at Island artists’ studios and historic community halls. “When you visit the studios, you’ll see some works in progress, raw materials, tools, and perhaps some inspiration mixed in with a little sawdust,” the tour manager notes. “We’re sure you’ll enjoy meeting the artists and discussing their work and vision in person. By visiting and shopping at the tour, you are not only buying hand-crafted works of art, but you are also supporting the local economy and helping artists to thrive.”

Mediums for this year’s Summer Tour include fiber, wearable, garden art, glass, jewelry, metal, mosaics, painting, 2D art, photography, pottery, ceramics and sculpture, wood, furniture, whimsical art and more.

The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour is now accepting applications from regional artists for the Dec. 4 to 6 event. The Tour is looking for hand-crafted artwork by artists that reflects “the hand and spirit” of the artist. Studio space is provided.
