Bainbridge Receives Tree City USA Designation for 17th Consecutive Year!

Written by Kevin Dwyer

We know the island has an incredible array of beautiful deciduous trees, and now, for the 17th year running, Bainbridge has been recognized as a Tree City USA through a program administered by the Arbor Day Foundation.

The Foundation honors communities across the country that put budgetary resources toward tree work and preservation and legislatively protects trees with a tree ordinance. The island has had such rules in place for years.

The Tree City USA program provides communities with an avenue to celebrate their work, showing residents, visitors, and the entire country that they’re committed to the mission of environmental change.

“Publicly demonstrating our commitment to the environment is a great way to build pride among residents,” says City Manager Blair King, “as well as position our community as an attractive place to live.”
