Bainbridge Senior Center Selected for Statewide Pilot Program to Enhance Older Adults’ Health and Well-Being
A new partnership is bringing free, personalized health assessments and well-being support to local seniors, says Reed Price, Executive Director of the Bainbridge Island Senior/Community Center.
BISCC is one of just 10 senior centers across Washington chosen to participate in what Price calls a “groundbreaking statewide pilot aimed at improving the health and well-being of older adults.” Through a partnership with BetterAge: Your personalized guide to living well, this initiative provides local seniors with a free, science-backed health assessment, personalized recommendations for healthy aging, and a monthly opportunity to win $100 for participation.
Supported by a grant from the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, the four-month program empowers older adults to take charge of their well-being through confidential, user-friendly assessments that take just 7 to 10 minutes to complete.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
“We are excited to bring this opportunity to our community,” said Price. “We’re giving local older adults access to valuable insights and resources that can help them live healthier, more fulfilling lives.”
As previously mentioned, the assessment is free of charge, and down the road, Price speculated that BetterAge will share the results locally and nationally. To date, some 100 BISCC members or community volunteers have taken the survey. The Island Wanderer took the assessment at Price’s urging. Here’s what it said about me:
Based on your responses, it’s clear that you are someone who values your health and well-being. You demonstrate a proactive approach, actively seeking ways to enhance your quality of life despite facing some challenges related to chronic conditions. Your reflections indicate a strong sense of self-awareness and a desire for connection and fulfillment. It’s commendable that you’re open to exploring solutions and making positive changes. At BetterAge, we’re here to support you on this journey towards a more vibrant and fulfilling life.
Added James Firman, Chief Innovation Officer for BetterAge: “BetterAge is designed not only to help individuals make informed health decisions but also to provide senior centers with actionable data to enhance programs and services.”
