Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Presents: All Aboard This Weekend at BPA. Plus Fishbowl, a Play, Local Deals at 60 Bainbridge Businesses. Join the City’s Ethics Board!

Join the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra for a joyful midwinter concert that will whisk you away on a journey through sound and imagination.

The concert – at Bainbridge Performing Arts Center – begins with Arthur Honegger’s Pacific 231, a thrilling tone poem depicting the mechanical power of a steam locomotive speeding up. The orchestra is then joined by brilliant young cellist Anthony Kim (14), the winner of our 2025 Young Artists Competition, performing Joseph Haydn’s graceful Cello Concerto in C major. The concert culminates in a performance of Dvořák’s exuberant Symphony No. 8 in G major, joined by members of the Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra.

Check out Fishbowl, A New Play About Escapism and Ecoterrorism

February 20 – 22, 2026 (Preview 2/19)

Produced in partnership with Bainbridge Island Theater Lab

The Plot: World renowned scientist Dr. Kendra Swope is just days away from achieving her most cherished goal: escaping her own species to live in the underwater habitat she designed. In this environment, Kendra works with her only friend, marine biologist Dr. Mike Coleman, finishing up her work for Robertson Oceanographic Technologies (ROT). But the waters are far from calm – a young ecoterrorist is slowing the work, Mike is talking to fish, and the CEO of ROT doesn’t want to cut Kendra loose.  As events compound, Kendra is confronted by her own limited ideas of love and the unquenchable human need for connection. How did such a simple desire get so complicated? The play was written by Catherine Rush and is performed at BPA.

Now is Your Chance to Serve on the City’s Ethics Board

Applications are now open for the City’s Ethics Board, with the first review occurring at the end of February.

Last year, a What’s Up Bainbridge podcast episode took a closer look at the role and responsibilities of this volunteer board, which is dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical governance within our community. The episode explores how the Board reviews complaints, provides advisory opinions, and helps uphold ethical standards for City officials and advisory groups.

In the episode above, Ethics Board members Doña Keating and Rafael Escandon join host Robert Ross to discuss the Board’s purpose, how it is managed, and why its work is important to the community. Learn more and apply: https://bainbridgewa.gov/231/Ethics-Board
