Please join Eagle Harbor Books for an uplifting and interactive dialogue between a voice from the future looking back (Bob Johansen, a futurist) and a voice from the present looking forward (Scott James, a community organizer).
Bob and Scott, both Bainbridge Island residents, will discuss the mindset it will take to thrive in a world that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. We’ll look at how we can individually and collectively be more prepared in the present.
We don’t have to be victims. We do have agency. We don’t have to be helpless. We can be resilient. This hopeful conversation will show you how to be more future-ready in practical, satisfying, and impactful ways.
This will be a fascinating discussion by two of Bainbridge Island’s most forward thinkers. The event is 6:30pm, January 23, 2024 at Eagle Harbor Book Co., 157 Winslow Way E. – Seating is limited. Please RSVP at: BEING FUTURE-READY IN THE NOISY NOW A conversation between authors Bob Johansen and Scott James | Eagle Harbor Book Co. (eagleharborbooks.com)
Bob Johansen is a 50-year futurist and author with the Institute for the Future, the world’s longest running futures think tank in Silicon Valley. He’s authored or co-authored twelve books detailing coming changes to our workplace and how we can prepare for those changes now. The discussion on Tuesday will focus on information found in his two most recent books Full-Spectrum Thinking, which focuses on the need for a future-back mindset and his latest book, Office Shock: Creating Better Futures for Working and Living (co-written with IFTF colleagues Joseph Press and Christine Bullen).
Scott James is a social entrepreneur, community organizer and author of Prepared Neighborhoods, the influential book that spawned a nationwide community preparedness movement. Prepared Neighborhoods walks you step-by-step through creating a more resilient, enjoyable and prepared community. He is the Founder and Board Chair of Bainbridge Prepares.
Full-Spectrum Thinking, Office Shock and Prepared Neighborhoods are available now at Eagle Harbor Book Co. on Winslow Way E. All three books will be available for sale and signing by their respective author at the event.
