Call for Artists – Arts & Humanities Bainbridge and the Bainbridge Creative District invite local and regional artists to submit artworks to be considered for the 2023 Bridge Festival poster

As many locals know, Bainbridge Island and the surrounding communities are home to an abundance of creative talent that runs the gamut from artists, photographers, performing arts, writers, musicians, quilters, wine makers, restaurateurs, and much, much more. We have amazing museums, such as the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA), KiDiMu (Kids Discovery Museum), and the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum, all of which are free to all visitors and year-round festivals and events to celebrate our creative makers.

In 2022, Bainbridge Island was honored to be designated a Certified Creative District by the Washington Arts Commission (ArtsWA), and to celebrate that honor, Arts & Humanities Bainbridge (AHB), along with their community partners held the first ever Bridge Festival.

CALL TO ARTISTS

AHB and the BCD invite regional visual artists to submit artworks to be considered for the 2023 Bridge Festival poster. Join our community as we celebrate the enduring spirit of artistic collaboration and creativity.

2023 Call to Artists AHB Bridge Festival logoThe Bridge Festival illustrates the relationship between artists and the cultural and business sectors, showcasing how they come together and form our unique local creative economy. AHB and BCD seek works that speak to themes such as relationship, community, connection, bridge-building and/or creation. Both abstract and representational designs will be considered.

The deadline for submitting artwork is 5 pm on August 15, 2023.  In addition to being used for a poster, the artwork may be utilized on social media, in flyers and local signage, and potentially on tv advertising, providing the chosen artist with extensive exposure. There is no cost for submission. AHB warmly welcomes members of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.

Submission process: Please submit 1-3 artworks to Admin@ahbainbridge.org, no later than 5 pm on August 15th. Submissions should be in CMYK high-resolution file format (JPG or PDF) with two aspect ratio options:

  1. 3:4 Aspect Ratio (18”x24”)
  2. 1:1 Aspect Ratio (Square)

AHB encourages artists to provide both aspect ratios for the same design, allowing for versatile utilization across different promotional mediums and platforms. This dual submission will provide an enriched visual experience and amplify the impact of the selected artwork throughout various festival campaigns.

The Festival will include a variety of cultural organizations and their individual milestones. Organizations are being encouraged to plan an event during that week which showcases their work and includes a demonstration, an interactive event or an artistic display or exhibit.
