Come Celebrate 35 years of the Bainbridge Island Winter Studio Tour

The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour is a twice-yearly, self-guided tour of our vibrant artists’ community as well as regional artists from nearby communities. This year’s winter venues span across eight different locations through-out the Island and display the works of more than fifty artists, varying from painters and sculptors in numerous mediums such as fused and stained glass, jewelry, pottery, wood furniture, fibers and wearables, ceramics, photography, print-making, Christmas nutcrackers, and much more. The Tour has celebrated the amazing craftsmanship of local artists since 1984 and is sponsored by many local businesses. Many of the venues are working studios for our artist community, as well as historic island buildings, all housing a variety of works for the Tour.

There are several new artists contributing this year, and each artist (new and old) must pass a jury process to participate, insuring the quality and craftsmanship is unsurpassed. Just to list a few of the new artists: the Masonic Lodge will be featuring Deborah Rhee’s abstract oils (I’ll be doing a post on Deborah later today), as well as Linna Lawrence, who’s restored Nutcrackers are unique and beautiful  (I met Linna last year at the BI Christmas in the Country tour and purchased the most gorgeous Nutcracker for my ever-growing collection). The American Legion Hall will be hosting Rita Mandoli’s pottery and woodworker, Simon Jerker – of course, the Tour will also exhibit many repeat artists from around the Island and region as well.

Each artist’s biography and photos of their work can be found on the Tour’s website: www.bistudiotour.com, as well as a map and information on all of the venues. The eight studios include: Robert Spangler Studio, Ferrier Studio, American Legion Hall, Filipino-American Hall, Masonic Lodge, Sylvia Carlton’s Studio, Grange Hall, and Hidden Cove Pottery & Tile. The Tour is held November 30th and December 2nd and 3rd from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy a day visiting the Island and stop by each venue to delight in the festive atmosphere, free refreshments and shop for original gifts for you and your loved ones.

In addition to the Bainbridge Island Winter Studio Tour, the BI Christmas in the Country tour is also being held the same dates/times (with the exception of Sunday, December 2nd, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), visit their website for four additional venues you can visit: http://christmasinthecountry.info/home.html
