Crescendo!, a Mostly Adult Chorus, Seeks Singers for its Upcoming Fall Performance Season

Crescendo Ovation's Adult Choir logoLove to sing? Consider joining Crescendo! this fall and perform seasonal songs, Broadway tunes, standards and more. At the conclusion of a 12-week practice session, the group sings at several special events with a season-ending, holiday concert Dec. 11 at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church.

Some members of Crescendo! are accomplished musicians, others learn by listening. They all share the joy of making music together. Wendi Olinger directs, with accompaniment by Chris Smellow.

Crescendo! rehearses from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Mondays, at the Ovation! Studio, 600 Ericksen, Suite 103. Rehearsals start Sept. 25. The fee is $99.

“Crescendo started in 2012 with a dozen or so singers and has grown to more than 30,” says Connie Bye, a soprano with the group, who, along with husband Dale Bye, helps organize the chorus. “Some of our singers are seasoned musicians, others learn by listening. But we all love to sing together and to share the joy of music with our audience.”

The current chorus is made up of about 30 regulars participating in its winter/spring program, with members divided up into alto, bass, soprano and tenner part

Crescendo 2023“The experience level is very wide,” explains Olinger, who is a trained opera singer and has a Masters Degree in music education and a Bachelor’s in vocal performance. “Some people have sung all their lives, while others are just starting out.”

This season’s songs include “Carol of the Bells,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Hanukkah Hayom,” “The Christmas Song,” “Once Upon a December,” “Bring Him Home” and more.

Some partial and full scholarships are available, thanks to sponsors Kat Gilmore and Lori Sinclair at Bainbridge Homes, Thomas Communications, Qualcomm, Oneicity, Tom Clothier and Darlene Strobis, and anonymous donors.
