In celebration of Groundhog Day this past week, the Bainbridge Island Library Art Coordinator Linda Meier urges you not to hide in your burrow and miss out on the February artist, Kirsten Sneath. The library will host its First Friday art walk reception, Friday, February 7, from 5-7 p.m. in the library meeting room.
Kirsten’s work includes acrylic and watercolor paintings featuring animals and birds. Kirsten describes her work:
“I am a painter and mum of two from the UK. I have lived in the USA for about 18 years, previously in Oregon, now on Bainbridge Island since 2018. I live here with my husband, two children, and our dog Paisley. My son is a Senior at BHS and my daughter is a sophomore at EHHS. We are loving Island life! I feel so very lucky to be living here. The local wildlife and beautiful scenery are so inspiring every day.”I always loved art at school but I left it behind after leaving University and entering the world of work. Drawing and painting became a thing I once did. However, when my kids became more independent, I found myself wanting to create and fill my time with something for me.Otter on a float
“I love to paint animals, birds and flowers in acrylic and watercolor. Painting is a form of therapy for me. I am able to escape for a while and immerse myself in my art while listening to my favorite music. I try to use my own photographs as inspiration as much as I can. I also like to create art using sea glass found on local beaches and I like to try new mediums and subjects to challenge myself from time to time.
You can view this exhibit during the month of February during regular library hours (unless a meeting happening). “As always, thank you for supporting your Bainbridge Public Library and local artists,” adds Meier.
