First Friday Art Walk – December 2, 2022
Winslow Way and surrounding area, Downtown Bainbridge Island
First Friday of every month, 6 to 8 PM
Spend an evening experiencing all that downtown Bainbridge has to offer. Many galleries, shops and businesses will be participating this month showcasing the art of our talented creative community. Afterwards, stop by one of our many restaurants for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, or dinner.
Enjoy an evening with a stroll through downtown visiting your favorite businesses and restaurants, shopping for gifts or items for yourself and your home. The walk begins on Winslow Way (near the ferry terminal) from 6PM to 8PM, see below for a taste of what some of our local businesses are doing:
Jeffrey Moose Gallery is proud to announce an exhibition of work by two women, Jennifer Angaiak Wood and Lea Basile-Lazarus, for the month December. Wood, part Yup’ik Native from Alaska’s Central Coast, will show a combination of paintings and carvings reflecting her indigenous heritage. Leah Basile-Lazarus, originally from Illinois where she received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, will show a combination of mono prints and paper pulp paintings. The work is connected by natural themes, vibrant color, energy and rich textures. A reception will be held on First Friday, December 2nd from 6 to 8 PM. The exhibit will run through January 3rd.
Bergh Images Fine Art Photography – Thanksgiving may be over but here comes December with many special events to celebrate, including National Ding-a-Ling Day (Dec. 12), National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day (Dec. 16), and National Answer the Telephone Like Buddy the Elf Day (Dec. 18). All are simply wonderful complements to the upcoming First Friday Art Walk (Dec. 2)! To help celebrate these glorious occasions, Bergh Images will have a month-long sale on custom-matted prints (25% off); custom-framed B&W prints (15% off); and any single metal, acrylic, or canvas print (10% off). Wine, small bites, and live music (courtesy of their neighbor Furnish Bainbridge) will be provided, along with the usual drawing for two complimentary 18×24 matted prints ($120 value). The special focus this month is “Europe in Monochrome,” as owner/photographer Andy Bergh will be highlighting some of his stunning overseas images in black and white. The gallery is located at 400 Winslow Way E, Suite 115.
Furnish Bainbridge – is showcasing the work of Corinne Carbone. Corinne’s abstract paintings reveal the physical landscapes dominated by bold shapes and strong colors, expressed in layers and textures. Furnish Bainbridge is located at 400 Winslow Way E, Suite 110.

Enjoy festive libations and sweet treats as we celebrate fine local art on this last Art Walk of the year! Island Life is located at 488 Winslow Way East.
Bainbridge Arts & Crafts (BAC) – is proud to be showing New Works by Carl Morgan (Kinetic Sculpture) and Diane Walker (Paintings) from December 2 to December 31.
Carl Morgan – “I enjoy putting metal into motion. Doing so can illustrate how a few simple physical principles of mechanics can combine into action of surprising complexity.
Often, a piece starts from a mathematical exploration of some theme in the natural world. After an idea emerges, the math then turns to design—planning to get objects arranged and moving in a way that illustrates the theme. Finally, an array of tools comes to hand in the shop for cajoling metal to actually perform.”
Diane Walker Artist Statement – Over her 20 years on Bainbridge Island, Diane Walker was known primarily as a photographer, actress, playwright, and poet. But in 2012, inspired by the work of BAC artist Christopher Mathie, she began exploring abstract painting as a means to more fully express insights and emotions arising from her daily contemplative practice.
Now a member of Women Painters of Washington, Diane also serves on the board of the Port Ludlow Art League. Her work has been featured in a variety of galleries and festivals around Washington, and her Wildfire paintings hang in the lobby of BIFD’s Madison Avenue fire station. Her tranquil abstracts have soothed patients and visitors in the halls of the Jefferson, Harrison, and Skagit Valley Hospitals.
BAC will host a First Friday Opening reception on Friday from 6 to 8PM. BAC is located 257 Winslow Way E, Bainbridge Island, WA
