Great Decisions Switches to a Larger Venue For its Three Remaining Foreign Policy Presentations. ‘Loving Across Borders’ Film Festival at Lynwood Theatre March 7th.

Due to the need for a larger venue, the remaining three sessions of the Great Decisions foreign affairs discussion series will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church, 7968 Finch Rd. NE, rather than the Bainbridge Public Library.
The time remains the same: 2 – 3:30 p.m. The programs are free, with refreshments provided. All events are free, with donations appreciated. Refreshments are provided.
Here is the remaining lineup:
ADVERTISEMENTS:
March 8. Ruptured Alliances and the Risk of Nuclear Proliferation. Moderator: Seth Weinberger, Chair of the Department of Politics & Government, University of Puget Sound. U.S. alliance skepticism may drive countries like Japan and South Korea to reconsider nuclear options. What are the implications of the Trump administration’s rethinking of the U.S. alliance system for regional and global security? Will this new uncertainty alter the way allies and rivals in various regions make decisions about security and nuclear weapons?
March 15. The Future of Human Rights and International Law. Moderator (via Zoom): Kenneth Roth, retired Executive Director of Human Rights Watch. As democracy and human rights retreat globally—and the U.S. pulls back—how can civil society and legal norms remain effective in a divided world? What is the role and force of international law in this era of impunity? Roth’s 2025 book, “Righting Wrongs: Three Decades on the Front Lines Battling Abusive Governments,” will be for sale at the event through Eagle Harbor Book Co.
March 22. America and the World: Trump 2.0 Foreign Policy. Moderator: David Fenner, affiliate faculty member, U.W. Jackson School of International StTrump’s return has marked a break from 80 years of U.S. foreign policy leadership, embracing an “America First” approach. This discussion explores the risks of isolation and diminished influence in relation to Trump 2.0 foreign policy studies.
Now in its 20th campaign, Great Decisions at the Library is part of a nation-wide, non-partisan program of the Foreign Policy Association intended to broaden public involvement in foreign affairs. While enjoying refreshments, Great Decisions at the Library participants first view a 25-minute Foreign Policy Association video on the topic under consideration and then engage in a discussion led by an informed moderator. A Briefing Book, published by the Foreign Policy Association, is also available.
Visit the Bainbridge Public Library website, BainbridgePublicLibrary.org, for more details about this year’s topics and guest moderators and for any further logistics changes.
In-Sight Collaborative Presenting “Loving Across Borders” Film Festival at Lynwood Theatre March 7
In-Sight Collaborative, a nonprofit learning collaborative of global humanitarian practitioners, activists, nonprofit workers, and displaced people, will
host the “Loving Across Borders” film festival on Saturday, March 7, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lynwood Historical Theater on Bainbridge Island.
Through four films and live programming, this immersive experience aims to provide a vivid and tangible look at the reality of migration in our world today and asks participants to reflect on the stories they see on screen. Using film as a medium of communication, this event bridges the gap between being a passive audience and getting a true glimpse into the feelings and experiences of migrants.
“Many members of the general public are familiar with the mainstream stereotypes and tropes about migration and migrants, but very few people understand the truth of loving across borders,” said Madi Williamson, Executive Director for In-Sight Collaborative. “We hope that this experience will reconnect us with our shared humanity through the medium of film.”
Film festival program:
Screening of “Dear Mother” (3.5 minutes)
Screening of “The Sky Was Still Perfectly Blue” (2.5 minutes)
Reflection and community activity
Screening of “Unsettled: Seeking Refuge in America” (84 minutes)
Discussion and Q&A
Screening of “Abuelos” (9 minutes)
“Loving across borders is becoming a universal experience,” Williamson added. “Through stories and lively discussion, we invite you to join us in reflecting on how love can sustain hope in dark times. Come with curiosity, cultivate new connections, and leave feeling lighter with hope.”
Event tickets can be purchased at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/insightcollaborative/2025484.
The event offers three tiers of ticket prices ranging from a low-cost “Solidarity” tier to “General Admission” to an “Amplification” tier that helps cover the costs of other guests or is donated to participating organizations.
About In-Sight Collaborative:
In-Sight Collaborative is a humanitarian NGO founded in 2016 by a group of friends volunteering in refugee camps in Northern Greece. In an acute humanitarian crisis spanning acres and acres of farm fields, train tracks, gas station parking lots, and abandoned hotels, the organization’s founding members recognized that the current lens we have grown up with to view the world was dangerously misleading. Said Williamson, “We saw a need for more collaboration, for more championing of the agency of the people who call these camps home. The nonprofit is a facilitator to those in the humanitarian sector who recognize that cultivating an equitable aid system
starts with oneself. Learn more at www.in-sightcollaborative.org.
