Enjoy Island Theatre’s Ten-Minute Play Festival at BPA August 22, 23 and 24th

Island Theatre’s much-loved Ten-Minute Play Festival is back! In its 11th year, the Festival features ten of Kitsap County’s best short plays penned by regional playwrights for a three-day festival of live performances. Performances will take place in the new state of the art Buxton Center at Bainbridge Performing Arts on August 22, 23 and 24. Curtain times are 7 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 3:00 on Saturday.

The ten plays were selected from more than 60 submissions by a panel of theatre professionals. They are overseen by ten local directors and cast with 29 local actors.

For the second time this year, the Festival has a theme: HUNGER—both literal and figurative. The resulting program includes plays that are “funny, serious, quirky, and thought-provoking, and feature characters and issues that range from high school age to seniors,” says spokesperson Steve Stolee. “If you don’t like the play you’re watching right now, there will be a different play in less than ten minutes!”

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and military. The Thursday performance is a pay-what-you-will preview. Island Theatre invites donations to help cover the full cost of producing the Festival.

“In keeping with our Festival theme,” Stolee adds, “10% of ticket sales will be donated to World Central Kitchen, which provides chef-prepared meals to communities impacted by natural disasters and humanitarian crises, including Ukraine and Gaza. Tickets are required and can be reserved at islandtheatre.org. Plays are suitable for young adults and older.

Run entirely by volunteers, Island Theatre is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization supported by patron donations, the Bainbridge Community Foundation, the City of Bainbridge Island Cultural Fund, Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island, and One Call for All.
