It’s Back! The Manhattan Short Film Festival at BIMA this Coming Thursday thru Sunday. Tickets are going Fast!
Hear ye, hear ye, all Yee cinema lovers, theater goers, long-suffering worshipers of the Silver Screen, and maybe some wannabes out there, the Manhattan Short Film Festival is back for another year of fun-filled film watching and scoring.

Come and view 10 engrossing short films from around the world at the Film Festival – now in its 28th year – Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Showtimes are 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The latter show is already sold out!
“Many past shorts have been considered for Academy Awards,” says local Manhattan short organizer and self-described Movie Maven TJ Faddis. “Several have even won that coveted prize. But this isn’t entirely a passive viewing, as you will vote for your favorite short and actor.”
ADVERTISEMENTS:
“As anyone who has been to this event knows, this is one hot ticket,” Faddis adds, with the enthusiasm of a huge fan. “So be sure to get yours in advance here as matinees generally sell out. … “You can read more about this year’s selections and view the trailer here too.”
Tickets and details are available here: https://www.biartmuseum.org/event/manhattan-short-film-festival-2026/
Depending on whether you’re a member of BIMA, tickets prices vary from $14 for BIMA members to $17-plus for those who are not yet members. All six showings feature the same 10 short films. The program is about 2-1/2 hours, including intermission and time to fill out your ballot.
A word to wise from Faddis, “If you are planning dinner after the matinee, don’t make reservations before 6:30 p.m.”
YOU BE THE JUDGE! As always, theater goers will get to vote for their favorite film. Ballots are provided. Because this event has so much support worldwide, each of these 10 films will be screened by the voting members of the Academy Award Motion Picture Association to be considered for the coveted Best Short Film Oscar.
This year’s show runs 2 hours/45 minutes. “As such, we’ll have a tight eight-minute intermission which precludes providing snacks during this time,” Faddis says. “Sorry.” When booking your tickets, she adds, please ensure the dates and times are amenable with your entire party. “Magical Aidan works hard when trying to rebook your tickets to other dates or times, but he can’t always produce miracles (though he gives it his best shot).”
“Speaking of magical, thank you all for supporting this program for 25 wonderful years and making it our favorite weekend of the year,” the Movie Maven says with heartfelt charm. “We look forward to seeing all y’all for the Manhattan Short(s)!!!”
The dates are: Thursday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27. SHOWTIMES: 3:00 matinee 6:30 evening show (not 7:00). Please notice the time change for our evening show. The same 10 films will screen at each showing.
