Backstory
The Auction & Rummage Sale was born in 1960 when Bainbridge Islanders decided it needed a new library. To raise the necessary funds, local residents collected donations for the project, and Rotary took the lead. The first auction raised nearly $6,000 toward library construction. A year later, in 1961, the second Rotary auction raised $4,000 to purchase furniture for the new building. The Auction & Rummage Sale has continued (almost) annually ever since, raising $1 million last year. The sale has become a local institution and is truly a community effort that would not be possible without the help of an army of volunteers that come together every year, some of whom have done so for 30 years or more. Over 2,400 community volunteers worked at the last sale! The Rotary Club invite you to visit the Where the Money Goes page to see the many ways that thousands of volunteer hours, sponsorship support, and the sale of generously donated items has made a positive impact in peoples’ lives.
Enjoy the Sounds of David Berger at Second Saturday Tomorrow, July 11 at Seabold Hall

David Berger is the host musician at Second Saturday July 11 at Seabold Hall.
Seabold Second Saturday is an almost all-acoustic open stage venue on Bainbridge Island. “We perform with minimal or no amplification in the sweetest, most resonant little one room schoolhouse you’ve ever seen,” says organizer David Hagar. ” The setting is perfect for our special blend of folk, blues, Celtic, jazz, and original material. But we also welcome almost any genre, as long it does not require earplugs for the audience.”
If you want to use amplification, please contact us in advance. There is a piano at the hall “but be warned,” Hagar notes, “it’s a little bit ragged and a little bit quirky and isn’t always perfectly in tune. Bring your own digital piano if you wish.”
Everyone’s welcome! “We are kids and adults, professionals and amateurs, hams and shrinking violets, old-hats and newbies. We’re also the most attentive and supportive audience you may ever find.”
Second Saturday takes place the second Saturday of every month, beginning at 7:30 pm (doors and open mic signup at 7), $8 admission, optional for performers, free for kids, and no one turned away for lack of funds
