Local Organizers Plan for a Big Turnout at Bainbridge’s No Kings Walk Our Talk Event on Saturday March 28th; Millions Likely to Gather Across the Nation
Our rights are being taken(away) in front of our very eyes – and in this moment, our silence gives them permission (to do so), say backers of the No Kings Day of Peaceful Action, a local and national movement aimed at resisting the policies of the Trump Administration.
“Freedoms in our country were never handed to us — they were fought for and won,” says Stephen Hubbard, one of the organizers of Indivisible Bainbridge’s Saturday March 28th event on the island. “For generations, our country’s communities have worked to secure fundamental freedom and dignity for all of us, and now President Trump is targeting, terrorizing, and destabilizing them.”
The local event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. this coming Saturday on Bainbridge Island and will join thousands of similar happenings across the country in what is being anticipated as” the largest non-violent protest in America’s history,” says Hubbard. “To make it clear: In America, we don’t do Kings.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
The gathering dubbed “Bainbridge Island Says NO KINGS & we will WALK OUR TALK” will include a peaceful sidewalk procession, and live music, “as families, friends, and neighbors, connect,” adds Hubbard. Some neighborhood and community groups are organizing and will walk together. For more details see: www.indivisiblebainbridgeisland.org
If you are interested, join the No Kings procession on the public trail at Shepard Way and Grow Avenue just west of Downtown Winslow. A peaceful sidewalk procession will then proceed through town to the corner of Winslow Way and Highway 305. Or participants can simply meet at the busy intersection. There will be live music along the way. Hubbard and others encourage participants to “bring your signs, energy, and hope for the future!”
Said Hubbard, following a similar No Kings Day rally last October: “the most important thing about rallies like this is that we let people see that we’re not alone in these tough times. The real enemies are cynicism and despair, and the antidotes are hope and determination. Feeling part of a bigger movement is awesome and it’s the cure for hopelessness. They want us to feel helpless and this kind of mass gathering proves were not.”
Hubbard estimated that more 2,000 people participated in the No Kings Day event on Bainbridge last fall, with many toting signs and others dressed up in hilarious costumes.
“Our work continues in big cities and small towns around this country, and we will not back down to President Trump’s continued abuse of power,” said Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, co-founders of Indivisible, the organizing group behind the nationwide No Kings rallies. “There will be regular opportunities in the coming days and weeks to take action with No Kings and we will be regularly sharing community rights resources.”
Republican leaders in Congress called the No Kings protests last October a “Hate America Rally,” suggesting it was terrorist driven. White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt went so far as to call demonstrators “Hamas Terrorists.”
“Authoritarians want us to believe resistance is futile, but every person who turned out (on October 18, 2025) proved the opposite,” Levin and Greenberg said. “This movement isn’t about a single protest; it’s about a growing chorus of Americans who refuse to be ruled. Trump may want a crown, but in this country, there are no kings.”

Now, President Trump has doubled down, the Indivisible leaders point out. “His administration is sending masked agents into our streets, terrorizing our communities. They are targeting immigrant families, profiling, arresting, and detaining people without warrants. Threatening to overtake elections. Gutting healthcare, environmental protections, and education when families need them most. Rigging maps to silence voters. Ignoring mass shootings at our schools and in our communities. Driving up the cost of living while handing out massive giveaways to billionaire allies, as families struggle. Spending billions of our tax dollars on missile strikes abroad all while driving up the cost of living and handing out massive giveaways to billionaire allies.”
“The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings — and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty,” the Indivisible leaders continue.
“Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger. “No Kings” is more than just a slogan; it is the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, shouted by millions, carried on posters and chants, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.
“Because this country does not belong to kings, dictators, or tyrants.,” Levin and Greenberg said. “It belongs to We the People — the people who care, who show up, and who fight for dignity, a life we can afford, and real opportunity. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.
