Local Romance Authors Present Exclusive Valentine’s Season Literary Event This Coming Saturday, Plus Other Valentine’s Events
By Jennifer Hemmingsen
This Valentine’s Day and beyond, celebrate the art of romance with live readings from the region’s most successful romance authors. “Happily Ever After: A Celebration of Romance Writing” brings together published authors for an elegant 21+ event featuring live readings, chocolate, and wine.
Set for this coming Saturday, Feb. 15, from 7 to 9 PM at BARN, this sophisticated literary event showcases the impressive diversity of modern romance literature, with readings from Serena Bell, Julie Farley, Darcy McGuire, and Kim Lorraine.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
“Romance is one of the most dynamic genres in publishing today,” says organizer Emily Smiley. “Our local authors are proving that with their success. This event allows readers to experience the full spectrum of romantic storytelling, from gentle courtship to spicy encounters, while enjoying an evening of luxury and relaxation.”
About the authors:
USA Today bestselling author Serena Bell writes romantic comedies with small towns, big hearts, hot nights, and all the feels. Serena’s books have earned many honors, including a RITA finalist spot, an RT Reviewers’ Choice Award, Apple Books Best Book of the Month, and Amazon Best Book of the Year for Romance.
Julie Farley loves writing books with big families, lots of heart, and plenty of laughs. She is a co-founder of the boutique publishing company Fog House Press. Her latest series features sweet comedic tales from Greensea Island, a fictional island in the Pacific Northwest.
Darcy McGuire grew up in the wilds of New Zealand but happily settled in the Pacific Northwest. She loves writing historical romances about fierce female protagonists who dodge daggers and bullets but never seem to escape Cupid’s Arrow.
Kim Loraine was raised a Navy brat but spent most of her life growing up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. A proper Washingtonian, she’s addicted to coffee, doesn’t let a little rain ruin her day, and thinks the sun is a gift from God. When not chasing her three little minions around, Kim spends her time writing, reading, and binge-watching Doctor Who.
Also reading and recently added to the event is NYT bestseller Susan Wiggs. Wiggs is a Bainbridge island author who’s written dozens of books including Wayward Girls, Welcome to Beach Town, The Lost and Found Bookshop and many other recognizable titles.
The event welcomes both dedicated romance readers and those curious about the genre. Tickets are $35 and include wine, chocolates, and special surprises. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit bainbridgebarn.org/everafter.
