Looking for a fun Volunteering Opportunity? Check out the 10th Annual Bainbridge Island Beach Cleanup, Sept. 20

Looking for something to do this coming Saturday? Join Sustainable Bainbridge for its 10th Annual Bainbridge Island Beach Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This milestone local event is part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. It is organized by Sustainable Bainbridge in collaboration with other dedicated Bainbridge Island nonprofits, including the Park District, the Parks Foundation, Islandwood, KidiMU the Land Trust and many others.

“Together, we’ll work to clean up Bainbridge Island’s 53 miles of shoreline and nearshore waterways to protect our environment and wildlife,” a spokesperson for Sustainable says.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Sign up to volunteer at your favorite beach or shoreline, at our Bainbridge Island Beach Cleanup webpage, www.sustainablebainbridge.org/event/beach-cleanup/

The site lists nearly 40 beaches, road ends and shorelines where you can volunteer, so there is a great opportunity nearby no matter where you live.

During the event, Sustainable representatives encourage you to take photos and share your most unusual debris and finds using the hashtag #bibeachcleanup on social media.

Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome. You can participate by picking up litter along the shore, entering data into the Ocean Conservancy’s CleanSwell app, or helping along roadsides. “Every effort counts, and your involvement makes a real difference, a Sustainable spokesperson notes. “Let’s come together as a community and contribute to a cleaner Bainbridge Island and a healthier planet.”
