Bainbridge Island Public Library will be Closed Through Saturday Nov. 29th
Bainbridge Public Library on corner of Madison Ave. and High School Road
The Bainbridge Island Library, including curbside service, will be closed through Saturday, November 29, while the building owner, Bainbridge Public Library, conducts installation of solar panels on the facility. The normal November art displays will not showcase there this month. The same artist will reappear at a future date.
The improvements are funded and managed by Bainbridge Public Library, a nonprofit corporation that owns, operates, and maintains the Library building and grounds through community donations and grants. The library is part of the Kitsap Regional Library system.
During the closure, contractors will enhance the building’s energy efficiency and sustainability for years to come. “The Library and Bainbridge Public Library initially did not anticipate that the installation would impact library services; however, after conferring with contractors, it became clear that the planned work would present significant safety and access challenges for staff and the public alike. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, we are suspending library services on the premises for the duration of the month,” library officials noted in a statement.
“We recognize that this notice is shorter than usual and apologize for the inconvenience.”
To support continued access to library services:
A temporary book drop is available in the branch parking lot, adjacent to High School Road.
Due dates for items currently checked out have been extended to December 6.
Hold pickup opportunities are being reviewed; the library will share updates as soon as a plan is in place.
“We encourage you to visit nearby branches in Kingston, Little Boston, or Poulsbo during the closure,” officials added. Find hours and directions at krl.org/locations. Note: all Kitsap Regional Library branches will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. We will see you again on Wednesday!
