Rebel Wife, the Forgotten Story of an Irish Legend at Lynwood Theatre Thursday Night! Help OfficeXpats Celebrate 14 years of Coworking on Friday

Haigh! (That’s “Hi” in Irish!) You’re invited to The Historic Lynwood Theater In Lynwood Center on Bainbridge Island on Thursday August 14th at 6 pm – that’s tomorrow night!

“Whether you are Irish, think you’re Irish, wish you were Irish, or love someone who is Irish, you’ll enjoy an “Irish Evening” with us.,” says Eileen O’Grady, promoter of  the event, co-sponsored by Debbie Sonandre of Celtic Crossroads NW in Downtown Winslow, and the Irish Heritage Club Seattle.

Help us celebrate Eileen’s election to the Board of Directors of the non-profit Irish Heritage Club Seattle (IHCS), with a mission to reach out to the Irish diaspora on the Kitsap Peninsula.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Join us for an Irish Evening on Thursday, August 14th at 6:00 pm at the historic Lynwood Theater featuring the Irish documentary, “Rebel Wife,” and meet the filmmaker, Williams Cole, our friend, and great-grandson of “Rebel Wife” Mary Jane O’Donovan Rossa and her husband, the famous Fenian rebel, Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa.

The film relates the untold story of poet, organizer, and revolutionary Mary Jane O’Donovan Rossa, a woman whose courage, planning, and determination helped free Ireland. Rossa’s death and famous 1915 funeral in Glasnevin Cemetery played a key role in instigating the Easter Rising of 1916.

-Irish music – from U2 via Youtube to the Zach Tupper local Irish band

-An Irish trivia game

-And your $15/$12.50 ticket purchase will enter you in a drawing* for a $150 gift certificate at Celtic Crossroads NW, 380 Winslow Way East, a co-sponsor, which carries beautiful Irish clothing, fine jewelry, artwork, and fun Irish gifts and treats.

-An interview with Williams and Mark Kohler, the Executive Director of the IHCS about the film, Ireland today, ranked as one of the top 5 economies and safest countries in the world, and the lessons and parallels to be drawn between the Irish Rebellion  and our current-day “troubles.”

Help OfficeXpats Celebrate 14 years in Business This Friday, Aug. 15

“Fourteen years ago the OfficeXpats Coworking and Meeting Space was almost ready to become the first coworking space in Kitsap County,” recalls co-founder Leslie Schneider. “We weren’t quite finished with the construction of our conference rooms and kitchen build-out, but we didn’t want to miss the international recognition of what was then the new trend of coworking, recently named Coworking Day and pegged to August 9th. So we swept up the sawdust, turned on the Wi-Fi and had a party.”

“As is our summer tradition, join us—upstairs in the Bainbridge Pavilion,” for:

  • FREE coworking all day, 9-5 pm. Grab a desk and get productive with hi-speed fiber Wi-Fi and free coffee. Use the Wi-fi token COWORKING.
  • FREE barbecue lunch, meat/veg burgers and fixings, Noon-1 p.m. All are welcome to contribute salads and sides.
