Summer Studio Tour Looking for Musicians; Try Matching Your Poetry to Pieces of Public Art
The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour is opening their summer venues to regional musicians who want to share their music during the summer event, August 9, 10, & 11. Both amateurs and professionals are welcome and can sign up for one-hour time slots throughout the weekend at any of the six studios.
Celebrating their 24th year, the Studio Tour is a popular grass-roots art event held in island studios and gardens. With lovely space in the artist’s gardens, musicians can share their gift of live music with patrons who visit the studios over the three-day weekend. This is a volunteer gig, so check out the website for more details.
Time slots can fill up quickly, so please visit the website soon: www.bistuditour.com, and click on Music Sign-ups on the top menu bar.

Meanwhile, the Bainbridge Island Poet Laureate Program invites Bainbridge and North Kitsap poets to contribute poems in response to seven standout pieces of public art for enjoyment by the community.
The art pieces are located in the Bainbridge Public Library, Bainbridge Island City Hall, and Downtown Winslow. The selected poems will be paired with the art via QR codes and signage that takes viewers to the Bainbridge Island Poet Laureate website where the poems can be read.

Poets can view the three Bainbridge Public Library art pieces during its regular open hours. The two City Hall art pieces (one in the council chambers and one in the adjoining meeting room) can be viewed when City Hall is open, and the rooms are not in use. Check in at the City Hall reception desk for access. Poets can also work from photos of the artwork shown at www.bainbridgeislandpoetlaureate.org.

Poets can submit up to three poems, no longer than 20 lines each, for each artwork. Poems must be in Word format and emailed to Bainbridge Island Poet Laureate, Michele Bombardier, at michelebombardier@gmail.com.
The entry deadline is August 15. There is no entry fee. This project is made possible through a grant from the Bainbridge Community Foundation. Email admin@bainbridgeislandpoetlaureate.org with any questions.
