March Art at the Library Kicks Off with a Group Show Opening Reception Tonight at 5 p.m.
By Pamela Walker
Spring is almost here and the Bainbridge Island Library’s March artists will be celebrating in a big way by hosting a group show opening reception for First Friday, March 6, 5-7 p.m. in the library meeting room.
Participating artists include Susanne Bardelson, Roberta Marshall, Kathy Levine, Elaine Krause, Marina Myles-Worsley, Tom Hudson, Ellen Toby, Pamela Walker, Marty Sands, Patricia Buhite, Dayle Houke, Alyson Coote, and Maggie Stephens.
The Artist’s Process: A Student Art Show Participating artists have taken painting classes at Bainbridge Island Parks and Recreation with Instructor Gigi Godfrey Art is more than the final product. The process of making art, the journey itself, is crucial. Artists sharpen skills, find style, and experiment with new ideas during this journey. Facing and overcoming challenges promotes personal growth. The artist embraces chance, welcomes uncertainty and values e ort over results.
Keys to a successful art journey: • Set practical goals. • Work in the moment. • Embrace curiosity. • Let creativity flow. • Appreciate progress. • Value growth. • Learn from mistakes. • Foster self-compassion. • Celebrate your unique style. • Experiment. • Seek feedback. • Share your journey. • Get inspiration–from other artists, nature, music, history, culture, literature, or personal experience. By respecting the creative process, artists not only enhance their final work, but also their overall well-being and happiness. They inspire others and spark a positive influence through the act of sharing emotions and experiences. Enjoy art every step of the way.
You can view March exhibit during regular library hours through the month (unless a meeting is happening). According to Library Art Coodinator Linda Meier, a portion of sales is donated to the library.
