Wine on the Rock with a twist – its Wine Around the Rock! August 19, 2023

WotR logoEach year the Winery Alliance of Bainbridge Island sponsors four Wine on the Rock events. Next month they’re pulling out all the stops with a Winemakers Cruise via Argosy around the island. All attendees will receive a complimentary wine tasting and 20% off all bottles on Sunday, August 20th at any of these five wineries.

Set sail on a sunset wine cruise with five Bainbridge Island winemakers! Five island winemakers will be sharing their wines on board the cruise – Eagle Harbor Wine Co., Eleven Winery, Fletcher Bay Winery, Rolling Bay Winery and Perennial Vintners.

The two-story Argosy cruise ship boards in Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island at 4:30pm on Saturday, August 19th. During the four hour cruise, you’ll enjoy a view of the island that most have never seen as you cruise around Bainbridge Island.

The winemakers will be on board to share information about their unique and delicious wines. A catered dinner, open wine bar, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for the duration of the cruise.

What time is the cruise? The ship begins boarding at 4:30pm on Saturday, August 19th from the Bainbridge Island City Dock near the Waterfront Park. Use address 301 Shannon Dr SE, Bainbridge Island for directions to the dock. If you are coming from Seattle via ferry, please plan to take an earlier ferry than necessary. During the Summer months the ferry schedule can get backed up and delayed. They cannot hold the cruise ship for those arriving late.

Walking from the ferry? It’s a short 0.4 mile walk from the ferry terminal via the Waterfront Trail or a 0.5 mile walk via Winslow Way and the Waterfront Trail.

Where can I park? Parking is limited around the City Dock. Please plan to carpool if you’re attending as a group or find street parking along Winslow Way. Drivers can drop off on Brien below the park swings and above the Bainbridge Island Rowing club house, then park on Brien and the stalls North of playground. Please avoid the boat trailer parking on the North and Southwest side of Bjune. There is one ADA stall at the dock South of the restroom. Those with mobility issues can be dropped off right by the ramp, then drivers can park with cars on Brien.

What is the attire? The attire is summer cocktail – basically an outfit you’d wear to a nice dinner out. The ship is two stories and the sides will be open on the top deck. It can get cooler in the evenings, so plan to bring a light jacket or sweater and comfortable shoes that can handle the sway of the boat (high heels not advised).

What wines will be on board? Each of our five wineries will be sharing one of their wines aboard the ship, plus a couple of extras! All wines are included in the cruising price.

Will the dinner be sitdown or buffet style? The dinner will be buffet style and the same menu will be served on both the upper and lower deck.

How can I redeem my complementary wine flight the next day? We encourage you to stay the night on the island and make a weekend of it! Visit any of the five wineries on Sunday, August 20th and show your cruise ticket for a free wine flight. Each winery is also offering 20% off any bottles of wine on Sunday only. If you’re traveling by plane on Alaska Airlines, you are able to check a case of wine for free on your flight, so stock up at the winery! Wineries also offer shipping to most states.

Can kids attend? This event is 21+ and no kids will be allowed aboard the cruise.
