Bainbridge Island Winter Studio Tour 2019 – Celebrating 36 Years of Artists and Artisans
December 6th through 8th from 10am to 5pm each day – Enjoy a day touring the Island and stop by each venue to delight in the festive atmosphere, free refreshments and shop for original gifts for you and your loved ones.
The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour is a twice-yearly, free self-guided tour of our vibrant artists’ community as well as regional artists from nearby communities. This year’s winter venue spans across eight different locations through-out the Island, featuring fifty-six artists, varying from painters, sculptors, jewelers, potters, fiber, mixed media, photography, glass, and much more. Several unique pieces will be available, such as whimsical fairies and frogs, Nuno felt wearables, Christmas nutcrackers, Sgraffito etched pottery, fused glass birdhouses, and layered block acrylic paintings. The Tour has celebrated the amazing craftsmanship of local artists since 1984 and is sponsored by many local businesses. Many of the venues are working studios for our artist community, as well as historic island buildings, all housing a variety of works for the Tour.
The eight studios include: Ferrier Studio, American Legion Hall, Filipino-American Hall, Bethany Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge, Sylvia Carlton’s Studio, Grange Hall, and Hidden Cove Pottery & Tile.
There are several new artists contributing this year, and each artist (new and old) must pass a jury process to participate, ensuring the quality and craftsmanship is unsurpassed. New artists include Beth Fox Heisinger’s acrylic on acrylic at Sylvia Carlton’s Studio; Melanie Burns’ abstract acrylics at the Masonic Lodge; Sandy Haight’s watercolor paintings, also at the Masonic Lodge; and Victoria Julian-Gray’s handmade 100% recycled wool clothing, handbags, and bedding at the American Legion Hall.
Of course, the Tour will also exhibit many repeat artists from around the Island and region as well. Below is a list of the artists, their genre and the studio they will be displaying their work (click each artist’s name to learn more about them):
