Bainbridge Organic Distillers Triumphs with Multiple Wins at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Bainbridge Organic Distillers, tucked away in some beautifully appointed digs in the Coppertop Business Park on Sportsmen’s Club Road, has been scoring big of late in the world of craft distilling. The renowned organic distillery, one of the first of its kind in the State of Washington, recently clinched an impressive array of awards at the prestigious 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC).

Amidst stiff competition, according to publicist Brooke Hoffman, Bainbridge Organic Distillers emerged victorious, securing top honors for its “exceptional lineup of organic spirits.” The esteemed World Spirits Competition, widely regarded as one of the most influential competitions in the spirits industry, bestowed Bainbridge Organic Distillers with a remarkable series of accolades, including:

Double Gold Medal Winners:
Bainbridge Whiskey Forty Saloon (Score: 95)
Bainbridge Battle Point Barrel Proof (Score: 95)
Bainbridge Yama Mizunara Cask Whiskey (Score: 97)

Gold Medal Winners:

Bainbridge Organic Distillers received additional recognition post-competition, with the prestigious Platinum Medal awarded to Bainbridge Battle Point Barrel Proof. This rare honor comes as a testament to the unparalleled excellence of Bainbridge Battle Point Barrel Proof,
which has consistently garnered Double Gold at the SFWSC for three consecutive years.

Adding to the accolades, Bainbridge Organic Distillers whiskies were previously honored with multiple gold medals at the World Whiskies Awards in London earlier in 2024. Notable wins include Bainbridge Yama Mizunara Cask Whiskey being named “Best American Grain Whiskey” and “Category Winner Grain Whiskey,” along with Bainbridge Battle Point Hokkaido Cask
securing the title of “Category Winner American Wheat Whiskey.”

Reflecting on these achievements, Keith Barnes, owner and master distiller at Bainbridge Organic Distillers shared, “We are immensely proud to be recognized on such a grand scale by the esteemed San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the World Whiskies Awards,” he said. “These accolades are a testament to our unwavering commitment to crafting exceptional organic spirits of the highest quality.”

Bainbridge Organic Distillers was Washington State’s first distillery producing USDA Certified Organic spirits, and it is the state’s only distillery producing 100 percent of its organic spirits from scratch, on site in our own distillery. “We are very proud to have launched the state’s first organic vodkas, whiskey and gin,” said Barnes. “We favor working with other local, family-owned companies, and we strive to make sure that every step in our process is as environmentally neutral as possible and is sustainably and responsibly managed.”

He added, “We founded this distillery with the belief that being small is an advantage, and with a dedication to complete transparency in our process, our ingredients and our business practices. We are proud to be independent, and independently minded. We are dedicated to the rule that if we can’t do something the right way, and if we wouldn’t be happy sharing what we do with fellow enthusiasts, we won’t do it at all.

The company just celebrated its 15th year in business in April and provided patrons with a number of discounts, such as waiving its tasting fees, inviting visitors to savor it spirits without charge, and rolling back prices on its award-winning spirits to 2009 rates!

Over that decade and a half, the distiller won numerous awards including Bainbridge Yama Mizunara Cask Single Grain Whiskey, the world’s only non-Japanese whiskey to be aged exclusively in virgin Mizunara cooperage, winning, for the seventh time.

“Our artisan-distilled spirits are made from USDA Certified Organic wheat, barley, triticale and corn grown especially for our distillery, and the quality of each of our products is a direct reflection of the superiority of our grains,” explains Barnes. “From the pristine waters of our island’s deep aquifers to the unspoiled, un-compromised Washington State farmlands on which our grains are cultivated, no effort is spared to create distilled spirits of a singular and elemental nature. This passion and dedication go into each and every “Small Batch” we make.”

Bainbridge Organic Distillers was founded as a family business in 2009, and since the beginning “we perform every task in the making of distilled spirits on site, and with our own hands,” said Barnes. “From the selection of grain varieties and lots, to grinding, mashing, fermenting and distillation we are hands-on at every stage in the small-batch spirits production process.”
