Once a month, Bainbridge Island Downtown Association and the City of Bainbridge Island present the First Friday Art Walk.

Spend an evening experiencing all that downtown Bainbridge has to offer, enjoy visiting participating galleries and businesses, have a glass of wine or other refreshments at various venues, and whet your appetite with small plates offered by participating restaurants. The walk begins on Winslow Way (near the ferry terminal) from 6pm to 8pm.

This month’s featured business is Bergh Images

Fine art photographer Andrew Bergh, will be hosting a wine and cheese reception from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, March 6th at his gallery, Bergh Images, located at 400 Winslow Way E, Suite 115, Bainbridge Island (across from the Streamliner Diner)

I had the pleasure of interviewing Andrew “Andy” Bergh in September 2019 (to read more about him, click here), as a long-time islander, Andy spent over thirty years practicing law before deciding to pursue his passion of digital photography. Andy uses image conversion, optimizing his photographs to recreate what he personally experienced while taking the pictures. Using high dynamic range imaging, he merges multiple images of the same subject matter, taken at different exposures to create an almost painting-like quality. His work varies between black and white photographs to colorful landscapes and panoramas. Andy’s passions don’t end with photography, he is an avid traveler, and the latter more often than not, feeds the former.

Carrer de Barcelona by Andrew Bergh

Andy and his partner, Carol, were excited to embark upon a trip to Spain this past January, and although the trip started off a bit bumpy due to a passport snafu, they finally arrived a couple of days late, but nonetheless excited to explore the sprawling city of Barcelona. This Mediterranean delight in northeast Spain offers history, art, architecture, culture and great food, not to mention, a very pleasing climate—especially if you’re hoping to escape our chilly Pacific Northwest winters. Andy and Carol explored the historic core of the Old City, the 14th century Barcelona Cathedral, labyrinths of narrow passageways, cobblestoned thoroughfares, and of course the wonderful tavernas offering local libations and bites to eat. They also took in other parts of colorful Spain, including Girona, Cuenca, Toledo and Madrid. Images from their adventure, produced in Andy’s unique style, will be featured at the upcoming Art Walk, as well as Andy’s other works which are available on metal, acrylic, canvas, and custom-framed prints.

Andy also hosts a fantastic blog; you can check it out here: https://berghimages.com/blog/
