First Friday Art Walk – October 1, 2021

Spend an evening experiencing all that downtown Bainbridge has to offer.

Many galleries, shops and businesses will be participating this month showcasing the art of our talented creative community. Afterwards, stop by one of our many restaurants for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, or dinner.

Enjoy a fall evening with a stroll through downtown visiting your favorite businesses and restaurants, shopping for gifts or items for yourself and your home. The walk begins on Winslow Way (near the ferry terminal) from 6pm to 8pm.

Millstream art gallery and store offers a wide variety of unique gifts and art created by local artists as well as artists throughout the Pacific Northwest. This month, they are proud to feature artist Christopher Mathie. Christopher is an abstract expressionist who draws upon his personal interests in psychology, philosophy, metaphysics and observations of the natural world to create energetic paintings. His work is represented in galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest. Millstream is located at 122 Winslow Way E.

Bainbridge Arts & Crafts (BAC) is one of the earliest non-profits supporting the artistic community of Bainbridge Island. Getting its start in 1948, BAC has since grown into an educational and community outreach center focused on providing gallery space, classes, artist lectures, scholarships and sponsorships. To learn more about everything BAC offers, click here. This month, BAC is proud to feature mosaic bead artist, Rachel Young as one of almost 30 artists in the “Fresh Talent” exhibition. In addition, BAC will host an in-gallery talk with Janelle Abbott and more on Saturday, October 2, at 1pm. Upcoming recorded art talks with Gregory Smith, Bella Kim, and Rachel Young will be available by October 4th on the BAC YouTube Channel. BAC is located at 151 Winslow Way E.

Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) proudly showcases the works of recognized artists as well as emerging artists from around the Pacific Northwest and beyond. In addition, they offer classes, tours, films, workshops, lectures, concerts and events. Exhibitions are open daily from 10am-5pm and admission is free. On Friday, October 1st, join BIMA in celebration of artist Molly Vaughan’s opening night of her exhibit, Project 42. The evening will begin with a memorial procession at 6pm, followed by a dance party at the museum (for additional details, click: Next Fest Procession and Next Fest Dance).

BIMA will also feature works from Catherine Alice Michaelis: Root Bound (Oct. 1, 2021 – Feb. 20, 2022) and Cory Bennett Anderson: Heroes (Oct. 8, 2021 – Jan. 30, 2022). Complete exhibition listings can be found at www.biartmuseum.org/exhibitions/. BIMA is located at 550 Winslow Way E.

Windermere Real Estate will be showcasing the work of artist Cleo Forbes. They are located at 249 Winslow Way E, Suite 400.

Bergh Images Fine Art Photography will feature fine art photographer, Andrew (Andy) Bergh’s images of Bainbridge Island—the images will be displayed in different mediums, including fine art acrylic, metal, and canvas prints. It’s also Andy’s birthday this month, and to celebrate they will be holding a drawing with two prizes.  Each winner will receive a complimentary 18×24 matted print of their choice ($135 value).  In addition, there will be live guitar music on the terrace in front of the gallery as well as wine and small bites. The gallery is located at 400 Winslow Way E, Suite 115.

Island Life Artisan Gifts is one of the island’s newest shops, featuring the work of local artist, Alex Sanso. Alex has been creating unique and vibrant Bainbridge Island gifts, art and souvenirs that celebrate the spirit of the island since 2013. Her new shop showcases all of her creations, as well as art by other local artists. Join her on Friday for live music by the fabulous Shannon Dowling, wine, light snacks and great socializing. The shop is located at 424 Winslow Way E.

Red Cedar Café will host co-owner and luthier, Alan Simcoe’s guitar music, as well as a display of his custom handmade guitars. The Café will also be offering delights from their bar menu. They are located in the Winslow Green, at 140 Winslow Way W.
