Island Volunteer Caregivers Community Assessment Survey is Here – Learn How You Can Help!

Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is excited to announce the launch of its Community Assessment Survey called Growing Older on Bainbridge Island: A Community Survey to residents 65+ and older as well as those under 65 with a medical disability.

The survey is designed to update the most recent strategic plan, which was last conducted in 2016. They hope to gather data on community needs and gaps in current programs available to the 65+ island population as well as those with disabilities. “In 2015, 20% of the island’s population was over 65, today that number hovers above 26%—in other words, 1 in 4 adults on Bainbridge Island are over the age of 65—and 9% of seniors are living under the poverty line,” said Joanne Maher, Executive Director of IVC.

Survey responses will help inform their understanding of the services, resources, and programs available for older adults and to advocate for improvements. Participation is voluntary and anonymous and no personally identifiable information is collected.

The survey can be accessed on their website here or at ivcbainbridge.org/survey. For those without out internet access, a hard-copy can be obtained by contacting IVC at 206-842-4441.

The survey is available now and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will close on June 17th, 2022.

How can you help?

If you have friends, family or neighbors on Bainbridge Island that fall into the age or disability demographic, please forward the survey information to them.

IVC works closely with several nonprofits on Bainbridge to better serve our community, and will provide those partners with the information they gather to assist in improving the quality of life they already provide to their care receivers.
