Join the Bainbridge Public Library for the September 2023 First Friday Art Walk for “Art is Happening”, a group artist show!
The Bainbridge Public Library is dedicated to spreading the joy of reading and the discovery of ideas with not just our local community, but with visitors from near and afar. In addition, the library is fortunate to house beautiful local works of art both inside and outside the building. Each month the library celebrates a local artist (or artists) with an exhibit, which opens monthly on the Island’s First Friday Art Walk tour, and includes a reception hosted by the featured artist(s).
The Bainbridge Public Library is proud to present “Art is Happening” a group artist exhibit.
The artists will host a “meet and greet” from 5pm-8pm on Friday, September 1st to open the exhibit, “Art is Happening” for First Friday Art Walk
This will be the fourth official “Art is Happening” show at the Bainbridge Island Library. Previous shows were held in 2016, 2018 and 2019, with a hiatus during the pandemic and a small group artist show last year. Art is Happening, is a celebration of several local artists’ work, which has been curated by Patrick Gulke, a local artist himself (and a Library Associate). Patrick, with the assistance of his library co-workers, especially that of John Fossett, Adult Services Librarian, is coordinating the show, and will host a reception, along with many of the featured artists on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm.
Because this is a special event, the exhibition will stretch into the main library for First Friday only, and (weather permitting) into the Haiku Garden. Patrick, John and all the artists invite you join them for a fun evening of Art and Celebration!
In 2016, Patrick consulted with the library to host a group art show, he’d already done a solo exhibit and assisted in organizing a teen art show, so he was ready to try something new, something bigger! The 2016 show was a hit and they decided to do it again in 2018 and 2019 for the First Friday Art Walk. They opened the show up into the gardens and the main library, exhibiting paintings, printmaking, photography, sculptures and more.
