Moritani Community Picnic is back for a family-friendly end-of-summer celebration!
Celebrate Labor Day at Moritani Park and enjoy the music of Bainbridge Island’s WHOZYAMAMA and their zesty mix of Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music to this annual community favorite. Get up and dance, or just lie back in the lawn and enjoy the performance and sounds.
This FREE annual community event is held from 4-6 p.m. September 5, 2022 Labor Day, at Moritani Preserve.
The event is co-sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation and Bainbridge Metro Parks and Recreation District and is free and open to the public. There is no parking at the Preserve, and very limited parking on surrounding streets – so sponsors ask that people walk or bike to the event, or park in Downtown Winslow.
Bring a blanket and a picnic or a snack and enjoy the surroundings of this in-town setting located between Winslow Way and Shepard Way.
The Preserve is now filled with firs, maples, dogwoods, a few fruit trees and any number of native and non-native shrubs and grasses, and was once a strawberry farm owned and operated by the Moritani family – a longtime island family of Japanese descent.
The nine-acre passive park is a great place to commune with nature, walk your dog on several designated paths, enjoy time with friends or family, or just hang out on one of several beautifully designed wooden benches.
