National Night Out: Building Stronger Communities by Getting to Know One Another. Plus, Strawberry Fields Forever!
On Tuesday, August 4, from 4–7 p.m. at Waterfront Park (380 Brien Dr SE), the City of Bainbridge Island and the Bainbridge Island Police Department will once again host National Night Out, an annual community event that brings neighbors from near and far together with local government, first responders, and community organizations in a fun, welcoming environment.

So, city officials say, gather your family, friends, and neighbors for one of Bainbridge Island’s growing summer traditions! Here’s just a taste of what’s in store this year . . .
- Touch-a-Truck
- Giant inflatable slide & maze
- First responder vehicles and equipment
- Games, prizes & activities
- Music
- Food trucks & tasty treats
- Community booths
- Dunk tank
ADVERTISEMENTS:
The event is also featuring a Sensory-Friendly Time from 4–4:30 p.m., featuring reduced noise, lights, and sirens. Thanks to Neurodiverse Connections, noise-canceling headphones will be available, and a Cooling Center and quiet space will be open throughout the event at the Bainbridge Island Senior & Community Center.
National Night Out is about more than games and activities – though there will be plenty! “It’s an opportunity to build relationships, strengthen trust, and connect neighbors with the people and organizations who help keep Bainbridge Island resilient, thriving, and compassionate,” event backers point out.
The city would like to give a “heartfelt thank you” to its many partners including the Bainbridge Island Fire Department, Washington State Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, Kitsap 911, Bainbridge Prepares, many community organizations, volunteers, and local food vendors who make this event possible each year.
“We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate community, partnership, and the connections that make Bainbridge Island such a special place,” say backers. “Let’s have some fun!”
Film: Strawberry Fields Forever – Picker Cabin Stories at Lynwood Theatre
From the Indipino Community of Bainbridge Island and Vicinity comes the highly anticipated follow-up to HONOR THY MOTHER, STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER, produced by Gina Corpuz and Ron Stewart.
It follows the Indigenous and Filipino communities from ownership of over 600 acres of berry farms in 1940 to the present day, with a series of ‘picker cabin stories’ that illustrate their rich culture during trying times.
